Wisdom Circles

"A circle is a universal symbol for unity and wholeness"

Wisdom circles have been around since humans existed. It was a way to get together to talk about everyone's experiences. They would learn from each other. Communities sat incircles around a fire drumming, singing, playing, dancing, telling stories, praying, grieving together, and solving problems of everyday life. Political foundations, religions, and medical treatments/care were formed. I can keep going....

​What I have noticed in the last 20 years with the internet and compact devices entering our lives is that we have isolated ourselves. At first it was amazing! We can search for information faster, access music, contact friends and family who live father from us, find items that we couldn't find in the stores, get the weather and news quicker, less books, etc. Then Covid happened ; which isolated us even more. We are so addicted to the "Screen". We live in a fear based society, marketing figured us out and politics figured out how to pin us against ourselves. Facebook was supposed to connect us; now it's ads, people complaining, and friends and family posting what they are doing while you left out.Same with all the other social media.

A couple of years I have realized that watching the news and scrolling on social media left me with zero time to get things done and filled with anger, fear, and jealousy.

I can honestly say, I feel so much better and now I have time to do what fills my cup!  Unfortunately, I realized that I craved community. So, I went to bars because it was the only place I could think of to be social. I quickly realized I didn't want to drink as much and I fell out of that scene. 

I have been doing hair since the early 90's and the salon was the place to be for being heard and seen. We experienced physical touch, stories, great recommendations, gossiped, laughed, cried, and felt like a part of something. Now, it's not like that as much. Yes we get physical touch, laughs, cries, and stories, but not as much community.

This is why Wisdom Circles are so important now

We need a loving community. We need to be seen without shame. We need to be heard with compassion. We need love not hate. We need to take back our power. We need to accept everyone. We need to come back to our heart.

My circles I create contain a subject to discuss, a time to be heard and seen from our hearts, no interruption, with empathy, complete privacy, no judging, and healing.

So, if you crave community; a tribe, and to be heard and seen in a safe space, try a circle. I will be organizing some free ones for you to try. There will be ones you pay that is intimate and specific. I also can create on for a group or organization. The subject can be what ever you'd like . Examples can be at a work environment to get a team back together, churches understanding the people's needs, schools can understand what the teachers need,  children need to express themselves safely,women and men can understand each other etc We can meet in libraries, outside, yoga studios, gymnasiums, clubs, churches, homes, etc. you name it!
